The Marina Parque das Nações has been awarded The Blue Flag. This award is given to beaches, harbours and marinas, by the Blue Flag National Jury, highlighting the marina´s efforts to improve and re-qualify the surrounding areas while respecting the environment.  

The Blue Flag is an environmental quality symbol, annually given, according to sustainable development in marinas through 22 strict criteria such as water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and services available.

The Blue Flag Program is based in the preservation and environmental education, having elected the “biodiversity in aquatic system” as 2010’s environment strategy theme. This choice gets special relevance as the Biodiversity International Year is being celebrated this year.

This award reinforces the Marina Parque das Nações image as a dynamic and attractive nautical centre in Lisbon’s Oriental area.  This way, the marina states itself as an international project and as an added value for the Parque das Nações.
