This magnificent ship will moor in Marina Parque das Nações on the upcoming days of 5th, 6th and 7th of August, commemorating the 2011 edition of the Festival dos Oceanos.

With open visits from 10.00am to 11.00pm on the 5th and 6th of August. While on the 7th of August from 10.00 am to 6.00pm. This historical "Santa Maria Manuela" promises to embellish the Marina and attract many for a short visit.

The "Santa Maria Manuela" is an old-fashioned cod fishing lugger, built in 1937 by the Manufacturing Union Company, Lisbon (Portugal).

Together with her twin "Creoula", both started their activity in the cod fishery, incorporating the famous "Portuguese White Fleet."

It was partially demolished in 1993 where only its hull remained and in 2007 the Pascoal company became the new owner, thus beginning the rebuilding process, which was only completed in May 2010.

Nowadays it used as sea training, with a capacity for 50 crew members, allowing unique experiences.

The participation of this magnificent tallship in the Festival dos Oceanos is part of the scientific expedition SMM / MarPro 2011, which brings together Iberian universities (Sea Campus) in order to monitor and study the Portuguese sea biodiversity.

During the Festival dos Oceanos, this legendary vessel, will play an important role. It will be an onboard museum as well as an interactive exhibition with fun and educational activities.

SMM / MarPro 2011 Expedition will, similarly, organize open lectures. To participle, simply register at the Festival dos Oceanos website.

Note: without prior appointment and name on the checklist at the entrance, visitors will not be able to attend lectures.
