Between the 10th and the 18th of April, the "Fish in Lisbon 2010" festival gathers in the Pavillion of Portugal | Parque das Nações the three restaurants from Lisbon distinguished with Michelin stars: Tavares, Eleven, and Fortazela do Guincho.
The presence of Roca brothers, from Catalonia’s El Cellar de Can Roca, considered the fifth best restaurant in the world, is one of the main attractions.
Another interesting experience will be the comparison between the traditional Portuguese cod delicacies with Marco Canora’s concepts, a North American cod lover who manages “Hearth”, a restaurant in New York.
However, the focus goes to the Brazilian cuisine. Alex Atala, from GIFT in São Paulo, Claude Troisgros, Mara Salles, Bel Rabbit Beto Pimentel and Tsuyoshi Murakami are famous names who will participate in the event. The aim is not only highlighting the similarities between the culinary tradition of these two brother countries, but also to show how Brazilian creative cuisine has been moving to the next level.
On the other hand, the dynamism of new projects that emerged last year in Lisbon is witnessed with the presence of José Avillez from Tavares; Bertílio Gomes from Casa Comida; Luís Baena from Manifesto; Vítor Sobral from Tasca da Esquina; Miguel Castro e Silva from Largo, among others.
Alike last year, several parallel activities such as kids cuisine, contests such as the best “Pregão” (steak on bread) and the best “Pasteis de Nata” (sweet custard pies), exhibitions and at last cooking demonstrations. The novelty this year will be the traditional bread from Mafra, as the event’s official bread.
Besides the 11 restaurants, there will be a 12th space which will be divided into three areas: the Travessa of Madragoa with seafood snacks, York House with cataplanas and José Cordeiro, from Hotel Altis Belem, with his special rice, fish and seafood.
